Greek owners lead the global used-ship market

Greek shipowners ruled the global used-ship market in 2015, as they spent an amount of close to $5.1 billion on the aquisition of 259 oceangoing ships out of a total of 1,250 used vessels sold last year, according to data calculated by Intermodal Shipbrokers and the estimates of VesselsValue.com.

Other estimates speak of an even higher amount invested by Greek shipowners.

Following the Greeks in the list of the biggest buyers of used ships last year were the Chinese, the Germans, the Norwegians and the Danes.
